For a first watch, follow the animated Avatar: The Last Airbender seasons one, two and three, then The Legend of Korra seasons one through four. Keep episodes within each season in their presented order. This route follows the two animated series. The live-action film and television adaptations are separate versions, rather than missing chapters to insert between them.
Start with Aang's animated introduction
Begin the original animated Avatar at its first episode and continue through all three seasons. Paramount's episode guide groups the series by season, providing a clear route even when a longer story is divided into multiple episode parts. Watch those parts in order rather than comparing totals across editions.
Let the opening establish the world's elements, nations and central journey. You do not need a reference guide to bending traditions before meeting the characters. A large glossary can make an accessible introduction feel more complicated than it is, while character biographies can reveal later relationships and outcomes.
Move to Korra after the original finale
Once Avatar's third season is complete, begin The Legend of Korra season one and follow its four seasons in order. It is another animated series in the same world, with its own central protagonist and conditions. The original-first route gives you a foundation while allowing the follow-up to introduce what has changed.
Do not begin with a later Korra season because its premise sounds most appealing. Its immediate conflict sits within continuing relationships. The first season remains the appropriate opening even when subsequent seasons have distinct central concerns.
Comics and other expanded material can add stories, but they are not prerequisites for moving from the original animated finale to Korra's first episode. Choose them later if a particular period or character makes you curious.
Keep adaptations recognizable
A live-action version may share names, settings and major story elements while making different narrative choices. Watching it is a comparison project, not a necessary step in this animated sequence. Avoid alternating versions episode by episode simply because their opening situations resemble one another.
Record the complete series name when you pause. Avatar season two and Korra season two refer to different points in the world. Three original animated seasons followed by four Korra seasons is the useful first-watch order; every related version can remain an optional choice afterward.
